As resorts spring up, the Villa keeps its cool

Not a resort ... a destination

WE JUST GOT WORD that a new Margaritaville Resort is planned for the West End of Roatan. With all due respect to the late bard that forged that venerable brand, we’ll keep our Jimmy Buffett on our playlist, but you can have his company’s plastic, overpriced resort.

Truth be told,
Ocean Breeze Villa is perfect just like it is. Located on the quiet and chill East End of Roatan in the relaxed Caribbean community of Oak Ridge, the Villa is an amazing place to escape exactly what Margaritaville looks to bring to our little island paradise off the coast of Honduras. You want resort wristbands? Buffet sneezeguards? Hawkers selling trinkets on the beach and harshing your mellow? Well, then, Margaritaville is exactly where you belong.

Where the only itinerary is the one in your imagination

But if you want a vacation on your schedule, where the only itinerary is the one in your imagination, then come see us at the Villa. Here, you can don a mask, fins and a snorkel, hop off our own private dock and be in the underwater world of the Mesoamerican Reef without having to navigate a concierge desk or make an excursion reservation.

Not that we can’t help with excursions, of course. If you’re into a zipline ride or a visit to Roatan’s very own iguana farm, let us know. If you’d like to take a ride on the award-winning Tiki Boat, have a few cocktails and swim with the nurse sharks at Pigeon Cay, we got you. A mangrove tour ripe with Roatan’s pirate history? Let’s do it. Scuba diving? The outfitter is right next door.

But make no mistake. The Villa is
not a resort. The Villa is your home while you visit us on the East End. Here, you can literally grab your fly rod and wander the beach flat, or hop on one of our kayaks or paddleboards and cruise over the blue water that starts just a few hundred feet from the Villa’s front porch. Yes, we have a helpful staff that’ll prepare your meals and ensure you have everything you need. They’ll be there when you need them, and when you don’t, they’ll disappear, leaving you to enjoy your vacation on your terms.
